Prince Olayiwola Shittu

It was Abraham Lincoln who said ` Don’t worry when you are not recognise, but to be worthy of recognition `Shittu
Prince Olayiwola JP
the immediate past National President of the of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents ( ANLCA), the biggest and oldest umbrella body of Clearing and Forwarding Agents in Nigeria is many things to so many people. To some he is a game Changer who brought exposure, dignity, integrity and respects to ANLCA in his eight years administration as the president.
To others he is a crowd mover, an achiever, an enigma and promise keeper of whose records of achievements in the association will never be forgotten in its history.
He was Shittu who broke the jinx since 1954 , ANLCA had existed without a permanent and functional national secretariat. To keep to his campaign promise of handing over an equipped national secretariat to the association he so fulfilled it.
Shittu is an astute manager of men and resources, as such he earns respects from all stakeholders.
Like treasured personality, Shittu has attained success in both his career as a Freight Forwarder, businessman and as a leader in the maritime industry.
In the words of Orison Swett Marden `Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds `
It is evidence that Shittu has affected many lives positively in both his personal and leadership styles.

In his description of who Prince Shittu is, Prince Olusegun Oduntan, ANLCA Chapter Chairman, Tin Can Island Port, `Prince Olayiwola Shittu is an enigma, a father per excellence , a good friend, an upright and very brilliant person. A scholar to you and a giver` ( see Oduntan full interview on page 10).

In his own words, Comrade Goddy Sewa, ANLCA Chapter chairman, KLT said `Prince Olayiwola Shittu (JP) is my mentor, a great man, he is a true leader, a selfless, committed, very brilliant and intelligent leader. He is a leader that inspires his followers, a detribalized leader that does not look down on anyone.
A leader that carries everyone along, his wisdom of leadership we all emulate.
He thought us, groom us and brought us up. I particularly, am one of his boys and will continue to be loyal to him, reason because of his achievements.
`Under his administration, I and other of my colleagues, we achieved a lot and we also excel due to the way he lectured us from time to time. He exposed us to the world, in the maritime industry he made it possible for us to travel out for workshops, seminars even within Nigeria here and all over the states we engaged in so many trainings and workshops .
`As a matter of fact, it was during his administration that I made my first trip out of Nigeria . So you can see where am coming from, am proud of him. Operationally, when you talk about Tariff and classification he is there, he advises us to do the right things. He is fair to people and very generous. He has affected so many lives with a lot of testimonies here and there. Like I said, he is not a tribalized man, he accommodates all tribes Igbos,Yorubas and Hausas etc without sentiments. He treats everyone equally and you will agree with me that under his leadership ANLCA was transformed. He brought ANLCA this far and it is my prayer that the new President will take it higher because the shoe Prince Olayiwola Shittu left behind is very big.
So we pray God to give our new President the wisdom to run the association and achieve just like he has started so that by the time he completes his own tenure we will have testimonies as well`. ( read Sewa`s full interview on page 11).
Also pouring encomiums on Shittu is Oladipo Lawrence, his Senior Manager, hear what he says `Well, as I have always been saying it to whoever cares to listen to me, Shittu is a wonderful person, his philanthropic gestures can not be overemphasized .
He is a man that always wants
