Comptroller Awe Takes Over From Yusuf At MMA Customs Command




Following the recent redeployment of some Customs Area Controllers by the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service , Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, Comptroller Mohammed Sani Yusuf of Murtala Mohammed Airport Command had on Wednesday handed over the mantle of leadership of the Command to a new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe.

In his hand over speech, Comptroller Yusuf who had been redeployed to Tarrif and Trade Unit in headquarters hinted about his Stewardship at the Command over the past 15months as the Area Controller.

He disclosed that at resumption , the daily revenue target for the.Command.was two hundred and twenty five million naira (₦225,000,000.00), but shortly after, the target was increased to four hundred million naira (₦400,000,000.00). ‘To the glory of God, we were able to make 90.2% of the target amount”.

He added that the Command made a total of Ninety Billion Naira as revenue in year 2023 against the Sixty Eight Biillion generated in year 2022.

According to the outgoimg CAC “We were able to manage the crisis because we were operating an open door policy which greatly helped in terms of stakeholders engagement and revenue generation”he.said.

Introducing the new Area Controller to officers of the command and other stakeholders, Comptroller Yusuf urged them to rededicate themselves to duty and give full support to the new CAC and also advised the new CAC to have listening ear by operating an open door policy in order to succeed at his new position.

In his response, the newly deployed CAC, Comptroller Awe vowed to build on the existing structure and more, which he said will requires the cooperation and support of all and sundry in order to succeed.

Laudable testimonies and goodwill messages of Comptroller Yusuf poured in from officers and men of the command.

In his goodwill message, Deputy Comptroller in charge of Revenue, DC Iortyer NJ on his part commends the qualities of the outgoing Controller as he hinted that his intelligence and open minded nature, they were able to generate above the target for the first quarter. DC Iortyer detailed that the Command generated four billion naira in January, acheived same amount in February and sixteen billion naira in March.
