Anti-Smuggling Drive: Kano/Jigawa Area Command Collaborates With Other Government Agencies To Achieve Results At Kano Airport


The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service in its intense Anti-Smuggling drive has made a significant seizure at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with the collaboration of other security agencies.

According to a press statement by the Command Punlic Relations Officer, SC Saidu Nuruddeen, it reads that a passenger arriving from Cairo via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET941 was intercepted during a joint security check on Sunday 28th April at approximately 01:00hrs.

It reads further that the examination of the passenger’s luggage revealed 241 empty packages of OTRAVIN and 80 pieces of OTRAVIN nasal drops which has been seized outrightly.

According to the statement “In accordance with due process, the items have been detained, and a smooth transfer to NAFDAC, a key partner in the joint security check is being facilitated.

“This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration and the commitment of our personnel to combating smuggling and ensuring national security” it reads.

The statement also reveal that the Customs Area Controller incharge of the Command, Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana commends the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for their leadership and support as always.

Comptroller Chana also appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the personnel of the service and those of NDLEA, NAFDAC, and NQS who worked together to achieve the remarkable outcome.

“The Kano/Jigawa Area Command remains committed to protecting our nation’s borders and ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens” Comptroller Chana said.
