NSML Visit MWUN, Promise To Strengthen Existing Relationship

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) on Thursday , played host to the Managing Director/CEO of NLNG Ship Management Limited,NSML Abdul-Kadir Ahmed with his team of two management officials.

 

According to a press statement made available by Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, the team come in as guests to the President -General of the Union, Comrade (Prince) Adewale Adeyanju and some of his national and branch executives .

Yhe visit which was a courtesy call is aimed at congratulating Comrade Adeyanju, who was recently voted unopposed as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja.

The statement reads in part that the visit was geared to further strengthen the already existing good ties between NSML and the Union; more especially in the areas of the Union’s members, who are seafarers in the employ of the NSML with very obvious cognisance to their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will commence soon.

 

Comrade Adeyanju who was highly impressed with the NSML management visit had real time to relate issues of utmost importance on both parties to the NSML team.

 

However, both parties had agreed to keep the good relationship they have had since inception and promised each other of total transparency and mutual cooperation in all fronts towards striking a balanced success in the maritime sector and most pertinently the welfare of the seafarers and the Union in general.

While speaking, Comrade Adeyanju equivocally said that the NSML boss and his team visit to the Union had shown that he’s indeed a grassroots administrator of repute who has immensely transformed the NSML to standard.

On his part, the NSML MD, Abdul-Kadir Ahmed reiterated he will continue to come to the table with issues of mutual benefits that will befit the Union at all times and its seafarers in the NSML workforce.

 

In attendance alongside the PG, to receive the NSML team at the Union National Secretariat were Comrades Francis Bunu ( DPG), Abudu Eroje (DSG Organising), Abubakar Bello ( VPG), Ibrahim Ohize ( President Dockworkers) and Avoseh Sunday ( President Seafarers).

Others are :Uche Igweonu ( National Treasurer), Edwin Sambo (DSG Admin), Ayokunle Ajayi ( General Secretary, Seafarers), Comrade Oniha Erazua (DSG ) Ag. Secretary General and John Kennedy Ikemefuna ( Head, Media MWUN).
