Western Marine Customs Destroys N3.6m Seize Poultry Products

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS,), Western Marine Command has destroyed 351 cartons of seized frozen poultry products intercepted on the water ways.

The seized frozen poultry product with Duity Paid Value of N3,5553,875 was destroyed 
before  officials from other security agencies and the media.

Addressing news men at the site where the items were destroyed, the Command’s Area Controller, Comptroller BN  Binga who was ably represented by the Acting Deputy Comptroller in charge of Administration, AC Ifeanyi Ohanyere, disclosed that the items were seized on the waterways at T-Junction, Moba, Badagry axis.


He revealed that the prohibited items were seized at about 12.37 hours on December 7 2019, by officers and men of Western Marine Command.


He added  that the officers  of the Command are working assiduously on waterways to halt the illegal  activities of the economic saboteurs this ember month.


In his words, “We are patrolling the creeks and waterways 24 hours. We are constantly alert, especially this particular month of the year, when smugglers are devising various means of bringing contraband into the country.


 “Nigerians should support the Federal Government on border closure for us to grow our own food, instead of depending so much on imported items.
“Also, we need to support government in encouraging the growth of local industries, in order to create jobs for our people”.he quipped
He however warns smugglers to desist from their nefarious activities as tough time awaits them on waterways.
